Scholarship Rules
A. Criteria
1) Applicants must be full-time students attending Nicholls State University, enrolled in a program in Petroleum Services. Preference will be given students who are ASSE student members.
2) Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours and be seeking a career in safety.
3) Applicants must possess a cumulative, overall minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
4) Need is a consideration in awarding a scholarship only when two or more applicants have equal qualifications.
B. Scholarship applicants are required to submit the following original material by 10/15 and 3/15 of the academic calendar year.
1) Cover letter indicating consideration for scholarship.
2) Letter indicating career objectives in safety and explanation of how the receipt of the scholarship will aid in achieving those goals (maximum 300 words).
3) Original, official transcript.
4) Resume.
5) Verification from the department chair that the student is officially admitted to the safety program.
C. Applicants may also include the following in their application:
1) ASSE Student Section and/or Chapter leadership and activities.
2) Campus extra-curricular activities (especially those safety-related).
3) Community or personal activities/accomplishments related to safety.
